Whiting Law Group Secures Maximum Compensation Allowed for the Death of a Minor Child in Illegal Day Care Case
September 30, 2011
Whiting Law Group is pleased to report that, on behalf of its clients, the firm has secured the maximum payment allowed by the caps on wrongful death cases in Wisconsin in the tragic case of Reis Lazzeroni. Reis was a healthy two-year old boy who died in suspicious circumstances while in the care of Ilona Nowosad. Nowosad was operating an unlicensed and illegal day care of out her home. Whiting Law Group and its founder, Timothy M. Whiting, hired a top expert to prove that Reis’s death was the result of an improper sleep environment — and not just sudden infant death syndrome as claimed by the defendant. The involvement of the high caliber expert was the tipping point in this case.
The firm’s founder and managing partner, Timothy M. Whiting, offered his reflections on the case:
“Although no amount of money could ever replace the sadness and sense of loss that Reis’s parents feel, I am pleased that we held Ilona Nowosad accountable for her dangerous and illegal daycare. Our commitment to Reis’s family does not end with this settlement. We continue to raise the alarm about the dangers of illegal daycare, and have committed ourselves to securing and enforcing a safer set of rules and regulations to prevent this sort of tragedy from happening again.”
