Whiting Law Group was pleased to play a supporting role in the organization and promotion of a major fundraiser for Catholic Charities Legal Assistance (CCLA). Held on Friday, May 5, 2011, Legal Lifelines for Those in Need offered the legal community of Chicago the opportunity to support a great cause: legal services for the disadvantaged.
For more than 90 years, Catholic Charities has served as an important safety net for thousands of people throughout greater Chicago, regardless of race, religion or nationality. In 2005, the organization established a legal assistance program, staffed by volunteer attorneys. Within five years, the CCLA has grown to a staff of three full-time attorneys with many more lawyers serving as volunteers. In 2010, the CCLA assisted more than 2,300 people.
Mr. Tim Whiting, of the Whiting Law Group, was the co-chair of this great fundraiser and has been a committed supporter of CCLA for a number of years. The firm is eager to ensure that the rights of all people are respected – and not just those with assets to pay for legal assistance.
Tim explained his commitment to the CCLA:
“I volunteer for CCLA because it helps the most needy whose access to lawyers or justice is severely impaired because of their dire circumstances. CCLA allows me to assist by offering my skills and blessings directly to the needy and I get to see the direct benefits of my help. The experiences at CCLA have taught me extreme humility and appreciation for the circumstances of the poor and how, without help from me and from others, they truly do not have a chance to move forward in life.”
The firm is happy to report that Legal Lifelines for Those in Need raised an astonishing $65,000. Whiting Law Group is deeply grateful to the firm’s many friends, colleagues, clients and supporters who made this special evening a true success.
Donations are welcome and greatly appreciated by the CCLA. Donations can be made online at www.catholiccharities.net/donate.
